Dr. Julia Sachseder is a post-doctoral fellow at the Departments of International Relations and Gender Studies at the Central European University. She is also an affiliated postdoctoral researcher at the Austrian Institute of International Affairs (https://www.oiip.ac.at/en/person/julia-sachseder/), and lecturer at the Department of Political Science at the University of Vienna (https://ufind.univie.ac.at/de/person.html?id=101859). Julia earned her Dr.Phil from the Department of Political Science at the University of Vienna in 2020, exploring the intersections of transnational capital, gender and race in the production of political violence in Colombia’s armed conflict. For the next years, Julia will be working in the FWF-funded project "Risky Borders. Gender, Race and EU Border Security", in which she investigates epistemologies of risk, gender, race and border (in)security. Her research interests primarily involve the political economy and (post)coloniality of (border) security, migration, violence and gender as well as private, non-state and corporate actors in peace and conflict.
