Book on EU International Security Missions edited by IRES professor is re-issued as paperback

European Security and Defence Policy: An Implementation Perspective, the book edited by Michael Merlingen and Rasa Ostrauskaite and prefaced by Javier Solana, has been re-issued as a paperback on 30 November.

Review of the hardback copy: ‘Bringing together the contributions of different experts, this book provides a well constructed framework for the study of the development of European Security and Defence Policy missions, both military and civilian.’ Mirca Brancaleone, The International Spectator.

IRES faculty wins European Commission FP-7 funding

IRES is part of a large collaborative research project, which is administratively run by the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and which comprises leading European and Indian universities and research institutes. The project investigates the role of governance in the resolution of socioeconomic and political conflict in India and Europe. To this end, it examines in detail a series of cases of conflict governance.

European Review of Foreign Affairs Prize to IRES Faculty

Xymena Kurowska and her co-author, Benjamin Tallis (University of Manchester), have won an annual prize for the best article published in European Review of Foreign Affairs in 2009.

The winning article is given to  young scholars who give evidence of excellence, notably by being thematically groundbreaking, intellectually innovative or empirically significant.
