Daniel Izsak is Visiting Faculty at the Department of International Relations. He defended his PhD at the Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations (IR track) of Central European University in 2018. His dissertation focuses on the varied impact of regionalism on firm regionalisation in the car industry, in the EU and NAFTA. It contributes to our understanding about how and under what circumstances diverse regional integration schemes are able to generate or be conducive to economic regionalisation within their fold.
His research interests are: comparative regionalism, regionalisation, transnational regulatory regimes, globalisation, EU, NAFTA, ASEAN. He has taught at the Department of International Relations since January 2018. In the 2022/2023 academic year, he is teaching Europe in Crises: Integration Under Internal and International Threat in the Fall Term and Comparative Regionalism in the Winter Term. He received his MA (with Distinction) in the same department, in 2010. Previously, Daniel worked as a political analyst at the European Commission. Prior to that, he was an international affairs journalist and editor at the BBC World Service, working in and reporting from 15 countries.
