Dominik Brenner is a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Public Policy at Central European University. He defended his PhD in Political Economy at CEU in 2022 and held visiting research positions at Sciences Po Paris (CEE) and the European University Institute in Florence. His research interests include legislative favoritism, regulatory predictability, political oversight mechanisms, and the international political economy of finance.
Dominik's dissertation focused on the internationalization of non-bank finance in the EU27 and its effects on supervisory delegation to the supranational level (grade: unconditional pass).
At the department, Dominik is involved in the OSUN-funded Global Corruption Observatory. The Observatory collects novel legislative data, develops legislative predictability measures, creates corruption indicators and probes the effects of legislative favoritism on company performance in countries around the world. His latest article (co-authored with Mihály Fazekas) was published in Governance and analyzed the effects of impact assessments on the modifications of laws across Europe.
