Imre Szabó is visiting faculty at CEU Vienna. He received his PhD in Political Science from CEU in 2017 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University College Dublin after that. His research interests include comparative political economy, labor politics, social movements and EU integration. Imre’s research challenges the view that the advent of a post-industrial society would mitigate class conflict. In public services – which are the focus of Imre’s research –  employee voice, trade union activity and bargaining disputes have been on the rise in recent decades. Imre investigates the reasons for this increasing mobilization and politicization. He also looks at the impact of European integration on labor politics and public service delivery. His single-author and co-authored articles have been published in the Journal of Common Market Studies, Economic and Industrial Democracy, Transfer, and the European Journal of Industrial Relations. At CEU he teaches courses on political economy and the future of work.
