On Dec 12-13, IRES PRofessor Peter Balazs is speaking at the international conference of the Italian Institute of Foreign Affairs "Opportunities and an Challenges of the EU Enlargement to the Western Balkans" - in Rome, Italy.

The workshop, “A Travelogue of Central Asian Scholarship: Methods, Fieldwork, and the (Lack of) Data Deluge,” is scheduled for Dec. 8 in the Gellner Room. Organized jointly by CEU’s Asia Research Initiative and Department of International Relations and European Studies, the workshop will take stock of two decades of scholarship on post-Soviet Central Asia—a region largely off- limits to foreign scholars in Soviet times.
