My first thought about Central European University is inspiration. The past year has been one of the most inspiring ones of my life and I know that this was only possible through CEU and through all the people who I have met here – both peers and professors. The classes I attended in the CEU Department of International Relations made me question the assumptions I had about the world and the categories in which I previously used to think. I have gained a much deeper understanding of what it actually means to engage in critical thinking and questioning and how to analyze current issues – from development and inequality to political violence and discrimination. For me personally, CEU has proven to be the best decision for my graduate studies, as it did not only help me grow on a professional level, but also on a personal one.
